The first of September is the beginning of the calendar year for the Greek Orthodox Church. A few important dates to highlight:
Friday September 8: Great Vespers of the Nativity of the Theotokos
Thursday September 14: The exaltation of the Holy Cross (a day of strict fast) Happy name day to everyone named Stavro or Stavroula.
Wednesday September 20: St. Efstathios the Great. Happy name day to those celebrating.
Friday September 29: Evening Vigil for the Feast of teh Holy Protection of the Theotokos.
